Two students of Faculty of Engineering University of Ruhuna have tested positive for coronavirus, health officials said.
The Faculty of Engineering, which was closed, was reopened last week for studies of third and final year students. University authorities advised students not to stay outside and have provided hostel accommodation for all of them along with refreshments from internal canteens.
Neither students were allowed outside the university nor the outsiders were allowed in. The health department says that the students were also divided into groups and a system has introduced in which the students did not interact with each other.
However, as the students had returned to their respective villages, PCR examinations of nearly 300 students selected from those groups were conducted yesterday (04). There, two students were diagnosed with corona infection.
The health department said that the students and their associates are being quarantined.
